WoWathon, an event, the money to charity child's play is broadcast kicking off on 30 June 2011 its third annual fundraising. Both WoWathons have a total of $13,900 for triggered child's play. The event is hoping that this year bring still more.WoWathon is a team of rotating players through the process of leveling from 1 to 85 without seeing stop for almost 2 weeks for the world and their make and broadcast needs to parts. Here are some quick details:
If It starts 30 June 2011, at 8 am it ends when the gang of 85 (an estimated two weeks).Wo Lightbringer (US), there are about seven participants. The characters are named Chylds and Playy. We have covered in the past WoWathon and promoting the community to come to the support of our brothers and sisters in poor, to collecting money for charity.
I asked Alex Guerrera, one of the members of the WoWathon team of this year's event, and he was on the excited to answer.
WoW Insider: When you start the Wowathon? What do you think attracts people in want you see play WoW for charity?
Alex: We started WoWathon in the summer of 2009 after one of our friends we introduced Mario Marathon. We had a lot of time to kill and we figure "We are pretty good WoW;" "Let us play, and try to do something good." From there, WoWathon was born.
So far, what draws people to see, I think that it has lots to do with the fact that just us stream WoW is a lot like hanging out with us. We are usually pretty fun people, and if there are five of us just playing WoW and chat with our audience, it has a very friendly atmosphere. We make chocolate pudding also set four in the morning, and after a certain point in the night, we are all very tired and madness begins, we said is great to see.
How much have you so far for triggered child's play?
Alex: ' 10 combines with WoWathon ' 09 and WoWathon, we have raised $13,926.87. We goal based matching used to try and encourage people to donate (achieve X amount of money to the Y plane), and a couple of times we almost don't do, so this year we will have to try to find way to revise the target system.
Why do you think that the WoW community so well to charity will respond? We have seen great outpouring of support for charity pets from Blizzard and the charity dinner. What's with our community is basically awesome over and help?
Alex: If you have 11 million people in a community, charitable people are necessarily out there. That being said, I think, a bit more maturity of their audience than the average game than most of their games win a lot of Blizzard games require much personal investment.
I also think a lot of people feel largely the same way, we do and want to give back to the community that they love. The community is aware, for lack of a better term and understands that they go to get back what they put in. If you are nothing but a troll, to do something with you no one will want to. If you contribute a great deal of respect and work in the community view, you get much respect in return. With a user base is so great, because that encourages community-building by nature to do so and rewarding.
What is the aim for this year?
Alex: This year we have forced no set goal in mind as we are concerned that we could lead to a situation, where we do not meet our goal before a certain level and are either meet to continue despite not our goal or early ends. Overall, but we are shooting for $10,000 before the end of the event.
What is the best way how people can help and where people can optimize?
Alex: If people want to help you can:
Donations easy, of course! This can be done, by clicking on our website at Wowathon.com the ChipIn! Button on the right side of the screen. When playing on Lightbringer and want to follow us, hang us, or play with us, our characters are Chylds and Playy, and we look forward, you come on the trip to have! We party character to our level, so that our audience can play with us, but we try to avoid party members too far above or below our level due to the the effect of it on the our comparison will have.Chat with us in our Ustream chat.Drum up awareness , blogs, and websites.Whisper characters to make us and us cheer! Many of our team members are new this year and have never done so appreciated words of encouragement. There are so many ways that help people. Of course we'd love it if everyone donated, but we appreciate everything on the whispers, people us fired us send! For me, the coolest part of the experience is this and our chat room, because our audience can participate in.
Thank you very much Alex and good luck for the WoWathon team. I know I'll be straight! Tags: Charity, children's game, children play 2011, children play charity, wow-a-thon, Wow Athon, Wowathon, Wowathon-3
